Are you joining us in Seattle for the Global Learning Forum? We can’t wait to see you in just six weeks! Right now you’re probably busy booking air travel and deciding which sessions you’re going to attend – if so, perfect! Here are a few more ideas for pre-conference preparations to help you make the most out of this year’s Global Learning Forum:
1. Reach out to 3-4 people you know you want to meet, before the Forum starts
…because “conference brain” is real. Once you’re at the Forum, you’ll have three days to take in as much learning and connect with as many L&D colleagues as you can. It’s a whirlwind – so don’t let your most important connections slip through the cracks.
We’ll be sending out the names & email addresses of GLF attendees as the Forum draws near. Take the opportunity to reach out to colleagues & LINGOs staff before the Forum starts to set up meetings, coffee, or just five minutes to connect between sessions. (Bonus points for a “mobile meeting” at Safeco Field, the REI climbing wall, or the top of the Space Needle.) You can also take speaker Brian Washburn’s advice and set a goal for yourself to meet at least three people you’ve previously only met online. You’ll be glad you did!
2. Plan to stick around for Friday’s Hackathon and Tri-Sector Partnership Training
With its booming tech industry, Seattle is one of the hottest spots in the U.S. to connect with leaders in the social and private sectors. In the Hackathon, you’ll collaborate to “hack” some of the social sector’s major L&D pain points with a group of like-minded disruptors – including thought leaders from Seattle’s thriving workplace learning industry. In the Tri-Sector Partnership Training, presented by LINGOs member PYXERA Global, you’ll gain the tools and context to develop viable cross-sector partnerships – so that you can move your organization beyond traditional funding/donor relationships.
